Lunar Forge has publicly unveiled its plans to build lunar infrastructure — including housing and radiation shielding for fission reactors — by autonomously sintering lunar regolith (dust) on-site, aiming to dramatically reduce the cost of establishing fission reactor support structures on the Moon.
Read more ↗payloadspace.com17 JulLunar Forge's Alex Bell detailed the autonomous sintering cycle their robots run on the Moon: sieved regolith (75–150 µm) is fed to a sintering head, deposited as a 20–40 mm wide bead along a wall contour, and then sintered by laser — repeated thousands of times autonomously to build structural walls.
